2011. Stop. Is it really 2011? I’m sorry but I do believe you came too soon. Because when I think of 2011, I think graduation. And that is way too soon. I’m the kind of person who never wants to grow up. I would very much love to fly to Neverland with Peter Pan and Wendy. That’s how much I do not want to grow up. It’s a serious issue.
I’ve been trying to find the “rewind” button for awhile now. To go back to playing in the sandbox. To go back to playing hide and go seek. To go back to swinging on the swings in the playground. Things were simple then. Okay. I still play hide and go seek and swing on swings. Perhaps, it’s in rebellion and protest of growing up. Because growing up means, well, having to become a grown up. I, for one, am not a fan.
But it’s inevitable. We can’t find the “rewind” button or even the “pause” button, which is what I tried to find after failing to find the “rewind” button. Growing up happens. Time goes on and 2011 arrives.
And 2011 brings a lot: My last semester of college. Graduation. Becoming a real adult. Finding a real job. Paying bills. Paying back loans. It should be intimidating. And yes, I’m slightly terrified but I’m so excited. I typically fear change and everything that comes a long with it but I am choosing to embrace it this time.
Within embracing it, I am choosing to go slow. I need to be intentional. I cannot take it for granted. I almost feel as though I can’t blink because if I blink it will be over before I know it. I want to go on more adventures. I want to make more friends. I want to cherish and value the friends I have now. I want to experience everything about my beautiful school. Point Loma is my sponge and I am going to soak up everything until it is dry. But really.
So Goodbye 2010, you were stellar. But I’m moving on and embracing the new year.
Cheers to you, 2011. I have a feeling you won’t let me down.
